The Louisville Labor-Management Committee is an independent, non-political body of citizens interested in developing and maintaining harmonious labor-management relations in both the public and private sectors of our community.

The Louisville Labor-Management Committee is funded by an annual appropriation by the Louisville Metro Council and employs a full-time Executive Director who handles the work of the Committee. This includes providing mediation and advisory arbitration services without charge to the users. The use of mediation and advisory arbitration has resulted in improved labor-management relations in many settings where it has been tried.

Since the Committee began its work in 1946, it has actively participated in negotiations, grievances and disputes involving hundreds of employers and thousands of employees in most every type of industry and public service within our community.

Our primary client is Louisville Metro Government and its agencies, however, any unionized workplace in the Metro Louisville area can access our services. Over the past 5 years, LLMC has saved labor and management an estimated $3,798,000 by resolving cases in mediation rather than arbitration.

A substantial amount of the Committee’s work is dedicated to informal and proactive consultations to prevent or mitigate labor strife, resulting in solutions and settlements that are rarely publicized.
