Management

Management includes Metro Government and Metro Agencies such as MSD, JCPS, TARC and the Zoo. Private companies represent approximately 40% of all cases.

LLMC can assist management by mediating collective bargaining agreements when an impasse occurs in negotiations. Management groups can informally consult with the Executive Director before an impasse occurs catching most problems in the initial stages of disputes. We can provide Facilitation services for companies who wish to develop Labor-Management committees or collaborative relations with the unions.

The services of the Louisville Labor-Management Committee are provided at no cost to the company. The Louisville-Labor Management Committee is funded by an appropriation from Metro Council and offers dispute resolution services to the labor-management community free of charge.

When mutually requested by a Labor-Management group, LLMC can provide mediation and arbitration services. Mediation is a chance for the parties to work together to resolve a dispute and avoid taking it to arbitration/court. This can foster better communication and positive working relationships. If a successful resolution is found, the expense of arbitration is saved. We have estimated that in the past five years, LLMC has saved labor and management close to four million dollars.
