Labor

Unions that have used our services include AFSCME, ATU, JCTA, LIUNA, NAGE, SEIU, Teamsters and UFCW.

We perform our services at no cost to membership. The Louisville-Labor Management Committee is funded by an appropriation from Metro Council and offers dispute resolution services to the labor-management community free of charge.

LLMC can assist union leaders by mediating collective bargaining agreements when an impasse occurs in negotiations and can informally consult before an impasse occurs, catching most problems in the initial stages of disputes.

When mutually requested by a Labor-Management group, LLMC can provide grievance mediation and arbitration services. Mediation is a chance for the parties to work together to resolve a dispute and avoid taking it to arbitration/court. This can foster better communication and positive working relationships. If a successful resolution is found, the expense of arbitration is saved. We have estimated that in the past five years, LLMC has saved labor and management close to four million dollars.
